Exchange Guru's help needed urgently
We have a Exchange 2003 Ent on server 2003. Server is now old and we purchased a new one. I migrated over around 40% of the mailboxes to the new server when it then crashed. After three Dell engineers over two days with out 4 hour respone warranty the problem is now fixed.
But around 4 or 5 staff members mailboxes went wrong. I have these 4/5 appearing on both servers with mailboxes. I have tried the normal purge/reconnect with no luck as it says the mailbox is already assigned to a user.
Is there a way to fix this? A couple of users are only around 7kb short but others are over 200kb short. I am not sure what to do for the best as they now appear on both servers info stores.
Re: Exchange Guru's help needed urgently
Can you not remove the mailboxes from both servers and restore their mailboxes from backups?
I know some mail will be lost (from between backup and the crash).
Re: Exchange Guru's help needed urgently
Can you use Exmerge to export the mailboxes from the old server. You'll then get a PST file for each user. Import them (you can also use Exmerge for this) into the new server choosing the option to not import duplicates.
You should then be able to scrap the "failed" mailbox.
The bad news about "4 hour response" is that it means just that - they'll respond in 4 hours but they won't necessarily fix anything that quickly :-(
Re: Exchange Guru's help needed urgently
Yep I would go the Exmerge route as well, you can even run it from your own computer.
