Can't say I've had any problems since I upgraded to 6.1, all working perfectly well... What kind of "dire" performance issues are you having? Also, what do you mean by it was forced upon you?
Portal timing out. Updating a ticket can take anything from 30 seconds to 1 min. Even closing a ticket can take 45 seconds and more. General performance is really really slow. I've opened a ticket with Spiceworks and provided an 8 meg zip file of our logs. I'm planning on moving it onto a different server with 12 gig ram running 2003 server 64 bit soon. Problem is finding the time. We are 24/7 365 so I want to plan this so I can roll back if required really quick. Going to hopefully do a dry run on my virtual 2008 setup on my laptop at some point. Server will the same name etc, same ver of spiceworks and I will do a backup recovery. Obviously off the network !!
We have our 6.1 running on a 2003 VM with 4 CPUS and 4Gb RAM (granted it can only see 3 and a smidge due to it not being x64)
We don't use portal as the primary method mainly due to staff preferring email so we just let the system email tickets...
I do agree, 6.1 is slower than the other versions but after going through and disabling all the unnecessary extensions scheduling scans in chunks instead of the whole network every day it seems to be better
I found ours to be slower just after the upgrade. We left it due to the lack of time and it seems to have fixed itself. Its ok now.
It is resource hungry though, a lot more than previous versions.
I've just turned off the Bandwidth Monitor and Windows Performance Monitor. Also disabled the Cloud Services Discovery Settings & set the network scan speed to slow.
Will now monitor over the next 24 hours to see what it's like.
Been running it a while. I have not really noticed any speed loss. However I do use firefox for it.
