I have Backup Exec 11d and Terastation Pro 2tb Problems
Contacted Buffalo.. and they say.
That it doesn't work from a Windows 2003 Server.
That it doesn't work with Backup Exec 11d, as Backup to disk doesn't work with an IP ..
That the mapping with UNC mostly can't be by name and has to be with IP..
So any suggestions appreciated.
I bought this 2tb bix to be the backup to disk server with Backup exex..
How can this done ?
Is there a decent Backup software that does Open files and Sql Databases (sims and stuff) that can work with the Terastation ?
Is there a way to make the terastation work with server 2003 .. and if not what suggestion could you make to get the files from the 2003 file server backed up onto the terastation ?
Plus SIMS on a 2003 Server

Can you create a cname for the terastation in dns?
Then point backup exec to the terastation via the cname?

I have done that here, easy peasy?
Mapped a drive letter to it then added that as a Backup to Disk folder?
fooby
the only problem was ensuring the user accounts passwords were all in sync.

1. Create user on buffalo called veritas (or similar)
2. Create user on Active Directory called veritas, add to domain admins group
3. Logon to backupexec server as veritas
4. Run BackupExec as veritas user. (change settings)
5. Map drives as this user
6. Robert is your fathers brother.
Thats the simple overview of what I did in total. However we now use a drivestation eSATA system that is much much easier.
