    Might be worth looking more at new cheap machines Cheap Laptops, Computers and Cheap LCD TVs | Ebuyer.com zoostorm being an example. You can get a pretty "ok" machine for now much more than you're paying for ebay stuff.

    e.g.

    Not a power mad machine, but from what you've listed above I'm assuming still a lot more powerful than yours. Brand new, and with warranty etc etc. If it's just to box a game could always run linux etc on it too if you really wanted.

    Doesn't seem much point forking out money on a decent graphics card for a machine that's on it's last limbs in terms of spec/expandability from ebay anyway

    But just my personal opinion

    Steve
    What could you get for £100 to £150 ?

    Am thinking a similar cpu, 4gb of ram ( don't need 8gb ), 160 gb hdd as don't need much in the way of storage, dvd writer and a reasonable graphics card ?

    Anything related to intel you should be able to use there driver scanner utility ( http://downloadcenter.intel.com ). If it is not intel and you still have items in device manager with yellow exclamation marks etc then you will obviously need to establish what they are ( make / model etc ). Should be able to use something like SIW ( assuming it is still free )

    Home Edition ( scroll to the bottom or near the bottom of the below page )

    Buy SIW Pro or Download SIW Home Edition

    I think these are the drivers you need...

    Would it be possible to post the make and model of your computer (or the report from SIW)? It will be much simpler to find the remaining drivers with these details.

    make and model.JPG here is a screen

    and im currently on the site, ran an automatic computer check and here was the responce for my graphics driver

    "Product Detected Intel® 915/910G
    Current Driver Installed 6.14.10.4410
    A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer. "

    I thought it might be a Dell OptiPlex GX280 based on the chipset. You can download all of the drivers from their website (or directly via my links below)...

    1. BIOS (A08)
    2. Chipset
    3. Graphics (Intel)
    4. Network
    5. Audio
    6. Modem (if required?)
    7. TPM

    I didn't realise it was a Dell - in that case do as Arthur says above and download all the latest drivers from Dells website

    Not sure a graphics card will give much of a boost to a flash game... if you do get one though, is your case low profile or full size?

    Low profile ;

    Full size ;

    If it's low profile you'd need to shop very specifically for a low profile card. That's if you have a pci express slot to fit one in... they often don't have them for cost saving.
    PCI express slot at the top

    Make sure it's clean - those machines suck up dust better than most Dysons.

    It really isn't actually! I still stand by the HP DC7900 I posted on the first page - $h!t hot core2 dual-core cpu with ram available for a tenner and hard drives for £12 on ebay.. you could have a killer spec with monitor for £120.

    I always like to search schtrade.com now and again.. we bought some DC7900 Intel E8400 machines with 4GB ram a few months back for £49 including VAT and delivery each.. still had 6 months warranty too! These are the ones we use as our main office machines.
