    PC Requirement ?

I'm looking to buy a refurbished pc - a program I need doesn't run under Vista so I can't get a new one. I found one, it's got 10 gig hd & 128 mb ram. Does that sound OK? I use it for the internet & run a couple of programs, ACT & Signlab.

It'll run Linux or Windows 2000 ok. But it's not really got enough ram for XP. If you want XP, you'll need twice the ram and perhaps a bigger HDD IMHO.

I personally would go for 512mb of RAM as opposed to 128 or 256. I find 256mb starts to struggle very quickly with XP, especially if it is properly updated.

You might want to give us the prices for these refurbished computers you find - we'll tell you whether people are ripping you off!

    This needs clarification

What budget do you have. I allways buy a pc to cope with your demands now and also in the near future, otherwse you will be paying more in the long run.

10 gig HD and 128Mb ram is of a very low spec, running XP on this would be a horible experience. For what you would pay for such a beast im sure a little more money spent would get something alot more useable and have more potential.

If you have Vista, it suggests you have a decent spec PC, so why not run a virtual PC on it, with the O/S of your choice?
