Adobe Reader crashing
Hi
I have a problem which has recently arisen. When trying use adobe reader 10.1.3 the program crashes a few seconds after opening. This happens whether a document is open or not, the OS is XP Pro and the problem happens on different PCs/laptops but works on others without any problems. I have removed and reinstalled AR but the problem persists. Re imaging the PCs appears to clear the problem but this is time conuming and not good practice, the image is created using ghost and the same image that was on the PC before the problem appeared. All the PCs and laptops are on the same network.
Any ideas anyone?
cheers

18th May 2012, 12:30 PM #4 I use Adobe Reader 10.1.3 without any issues, but on Windows 7.
An alternative would be to try Adobe Reader 9 or as above and see how this goes.

18th May 2012, 12:54 PM #6 I've seen the exact same problem. Unfortunately I've got no idea how to fix it. The bits and pieces I've seen on the internet about it seem to suggest that this happens when Reader9 gets upgraded to 10 and that removing all related Reader registry keys before installing X fixes the problem. I haven't tried this yet though.

Hi Norphy
I've rolled back to AR 9.3 and that seems to have sorted the problem. It's wierd how most of our PCs are quite happy running AR 10.1.3 but some aren't when they're from the same image and are the same spec. Guess I've got more investigating to do, at least my users are happy so all in all it will be a good weekend.
cheers

18th May 2012, 03:17 PM #8 I'm wondering if this was what caused the issue on my Heads PC recently. Foxit is now the PDF Reader on that after the registry fix SYNACK pointed me toward.
