Has anyone successfully downloaded this?
I've been trying today and I just up with a file that is 1gb instead of the 2 and a bit it's supposed to be.
I can't see an md5 for the iso either so I can't check it.

Not as yet but for something that size I'd be using a download manager if I were you.
I have it downloaded and written to DVD herehaven;t installed it yet, though I have installed VMWare ready for it. I left it downloading overnight - I risked it without a download manager.

Is this any different to the Longhorn one they released a week or two before this?

server 2008 is ok, but to be honest at the moment i would stick with 2003
Looks to me like it'll be a 'move to Server 2008 when you move to Vista'.

I ain't about to upgrade my production servers to a time limited release of server 2008 so don't worry about that FN.
Just wanted to install it on my vmware test rig.
Using wellget to d/l it now but as it says it can't determine the file length it doesn't support resuming.

na I don’t think I would, It wont be using vista for a long while anyway. But vista is fully compatible with server 2003 even group policies (but you have to manage them from a vista machine)
snot true, try installing a certificate from a 2003 machine to a vista laptop.( and then cry into your cornflakes when you have oddles of machines needing certificates ! )Originally Posted by FN-Greatermanchester

I must say i havn't tried that i will kill the person who told me it was! From what i have used of it has been. But one problem i found is the profiles
Server 2008 has some very attractive features, notably amongst them a massively improved Terminal Services feature that features Citrix-like application publishing and TS gateways. I don't think we're planning to run our entire network on Server 2008 when it's released (that would be foolish in the extreme) but there are some positive features in there.Originally Posted by FN-Greatermanchester
has MS published a final release date for 2008?
I guess we should look at creating a project to look into 2008 soon

Dunno, after downloading 2gb+ worth of iso and trying to boot it in vmware I just realised I have in fact downloaded the 64bit iso and not the x86
Downloading the correct one now.
