RM CC3: Some packages failing to install - MsiInstaller Event 1008
Hi,
After upgrading CC3 workstations to XP SP3 some (not all) packages fail to install. I have ensured Windows Installer service is running and re-registered msiexec. Whenever the failed packages are set to INSTALL_PENDING it looks like they are installing on boot however they fail to install and show in workstation.ini as INSTALL_FAILED.
RM error logs on the workstation show failure due to unspecified error but eventvwr shows some MsiInstaller Event 1008 errors. MS KB shows this can be due to pagefile size. Is there a way I can control pagefile size for all workstations from RMMC or AD? Or if anyone else has had this problem do they have any suggestions?
Many Thanks
Al

8th March 2012, 01:59 PM #2 Are you using the RM XPSP3 server installation package (RM Article: DWN1544594) or have you manually applied sp3 yourself?
You should use the RM version as it has new version's of Windows Installer 3.1 specifically for use on XPSP3 stations.
Hopefully you have access to the RM Knowledgebase? If so look at TEC1675332.

Yes used official RM packages and msiexec is the RM XP SP3 version. I have gone through all of RM's relevant TEC articles, no joy.
