There's actually 8 holes so far (and counting...sigh).

6 from David Maynor (4 memory corruption, 1 DoS, 1 remote exploit).

One from Aviv Raff (DoS, possible remote exploit)

    It's. A. BETA.

    It. Will. Crash.

Come on people- it's no different in its "beta-ness" than Microsoft products or even (dare I say it) Linux software releases. I mean, have you really tried to use Linux lately?

I think this is a bad move from Apple, because running any software on Windows will make said software look crap from the outset. But I am running it myself (on Vista) and I like it. And it hasn't crashed once yet.

But if it does- well- it's a BETA....

Yes, I do on a regular basis. I don't know what you're trying to imply but I don't have any issues with it on my desktop or 2 servers at home or the 5+ servers at the school.

    Re: Safari for Windows

Yeh Kingswood I agree there will be problems with a Beta.

I've used Windows Betas, Firefox Betas, IE Betas, Messenger Betas, Live Mail Beta, Office 2007 Betas, XBMC Betas.

    I've used Alphas of sorts.

I've never had anything with problems that redered it unuseable like with Safari. Infact 90% of MS Betas I've used I will happily use instead of the current proper release and hardly ever encounter a problem.

If Apple want to keep releasing those narrowminded lying adverts with those two guys then they need to at least not make a cock up this large.

Also, what exactly does this browser add that the others are missing?

    The "It's apple and it's shiny"-factor of course! 8)

What people must remember with apple products - it doesn't matter if it's not functional, reliable, user-friendly or bug-free; as long as it looks shiny that's the main thing

I used to love the brushed metal effect when I learnt to do it in Photoshop, but it's not 1999 anymore they should move on!

That's no excuse for gaping security holes (remotely exploitable at that too). Especially when they make a big deal in the marketing guff that it's a more secure browser.

    Re: Safari for Windows

Just tried it, seems alright, but then I always quite liked Safari on OSX
Probably wouldnt drop Firefox for it though

    2 Things:

    a) Why does it try to install a Windows version of Bonjour? I mean it might be useful for some people but why bundle a network service with a web browser and set it to be installed by default?

    b) When I type a URL in, it helpfully suggests sites I might be looking for. Thing is, they are all sites I have gone on before in Firefox. And its a MASSIVE list, sites I probably havent been on in god knows how long. I dont think even Firefox remembers them
Where is Safari getting them from?

Thats like saying "have you used an automobile lately?" "I was in a diatsu getz the otherday and it was crap so all automobiles must be crap..."

Which "linux", which version, what you using it for, on what hardware...??? And probably more importantly judging by your statement, who installed it? You?

@kingswood - that was my point exactly. tongue in cheek. It is a beta and shouldn't be compared to a final release.
BTW yes I tried linux, I use it 100% at home and work and I find it a *lot* more productive and reliable than my previous XP.
