6th February 2012, 10:57 PM #2 Not sure if this is the best way, but in the past I've done similar things with 7-zip, setting the compression to 'store' (no compression, fast), and split to volume set to DVD.
Have to manually burn to DVD of course, but it eliminates the guesswork.
And, because I'm a kind person, I've supplied the command line app and a bat file that unpacks it all HDD :-)

6th February 2012, 11:07 PM #4 Have you tried SizeMe or Burn to the Brim?
Like the poster above, I sometimes use 7-Zip or WinRAR, split the volumes so they are CD or DVD sized and then burn each one to a separate disc. If the data is important, I also create parity archives using MultiPar.
You could also use 8.5GB dual layer DVD+Rs or a spare 16GB/32GB USB flash drive if you are feeling generous.
