If any?
Just curious, I'm looking at making a simple custom one for my school. Probably one for staff, one for pupils and another one for the admin group.
Suggestions?

Just plain blue here.
Yeah, we just use blue with school badge and details of account in top right hand corner using bginfo.

Yeah, apart from having different colours for staff and pupils thats all we have
You might want to use BGInfo though.
I looked at BGinfo, not entirely sure it's useful though. All of the information is easily obtainable and I rarely need to know mac addresses etc.
It'd come in hand now and then but I don't want to add fluff![]()
I've found it's useful if you run it as a startup script and set it to modify the login desktop. That way you can simply glance at a machine and know what hardware/network config it has.
It also removes the need to label PCs with, often missing, bits of sticky labels. As the desktops are labelled with the PC name.
We use custom desktops - Staff, Students, support and Admins - all designed by our students. Great competition every so often!
We also use a custom login screen - changed every week or so, with messages, deadlines, comic strips - basically anything that we can get in a bitmap. (BTW christmas is great - seeing staff members photos photoshoppped within an inch of being well........ Its Bl**dy hysterical)
Anyways we are going to run a new comic strip for next year - competition opens Monday...........
not quite BOFH but who knows?
could be BSFH........or BTFH !![]()
BGInfo - useful for machine identification if you're fixing remotely - we publish the PC name as Geoff suggests.
Ah perhaps that'd be handy although with NSS I can see the labels remotely before I log in anyway. I shall have a think!
Yeah - it's when your phoned about a PC - you can say "read the PC name from the top right corner of the screen" - helps a lot
The rolling green hills of home here on all pcs.

We used the default RM blue background, but have a custom bitmap on the login screen which changes periodically.
We have blue for Students, Green for staff (a recurring scheme across the school) and I have Desktop Earth (http://codefromthe70s.org/desktopearth_dl.asp)

I use a tiles background of student for students and teacher for teachers just to distinguish if a pupil is logged on as a teacher.
