Has anyone used or come across this?

The Echo Nest BPM Explorer

Our Music Technology Department would like to use it, but cannot get it to work.

We get as far as Java (1.7) loading, then presented with a new window but instead of the graphs being shown etc, we get:

Problem java.io.IOException: Can't send command

Tried on Windows XP/7 and with different user account (admins, etc). Also checked the SmoothWall log, but nothing obvious.
