    Windows XP Support

    OK.
Having read a few articles on the internet and got different answers I thought I would ask here.

If we are running Windows XP Service Pack 3 -- when does updates / support end for this ? I've read April 2014 but then some say 24 months after the last service pack.

    Thanks

    Karl

Wikipedia has the answer, as it happens: Windows XP - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Extended support ends April 8 2014 for SP3. Mainstream support has already ended.

You don't HAVE to upgrade from Windows Me, in the same way that you don't HAVE to walk upright or use cutlery.

    I forgot the smiley.
Will try and remember them in future.

April 2014 is fast approaching, so if you have a big site, it's well worth making the necessary steps to upgrade to Windows 7 now. Another consideration is the fact we have no idea what school budgets will be like in the next 12-24 months. I think poor is an understatement!

2014 is still a long time, so upgrading to the latest windows OS needn't be much of a concern for you right now. Windows Vista didn't perform as well as projected, which is why it's taken so long to phase windows XP out.

We should be all done by Summer 2013 at the latest. The April 2014 date has been a useful one to ensure the full attention of those in charge of the purse strings!

By 2014, "Windows OS X" will be the industry standard.
