Incredibly slow XP Boot
Hi
could anyone cast any light on this problem. We have an XP Pro SP3 machine that is very slow the first time it is booted in the morning. It can take anywhere up to 30 minutes with constant activity on the hard drive during the boot process. Once it has booted, if you log in and then restart the PC, any subsequent boot is very fast. You can restart the PC all day long and reboot times are all very fast. However, the following morning when the PC is booted we are back to the 30 minute boot time again. There are no obvious services/startup apps that are causung the problem and the PC is a decent spec - more than capable of running XP. Has anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
Paul

Sounds like some sort of DNS issue. What is the boot up speed off the network like ?
