    IIS6 doesn't supports SANs in the CSR wizard

    What's it for?

    Need to generate a cert that's got multiple names within it.

    Can it be done through certreq.exe?

    Yes, and apparently with the certificate enrollment wizard on the machine, rather than the IIS one: How to Request a Certificate With a Custom SAN

    I ask why because many of the new MS products that require SANs actually have their own certificate request wizards...

    Think I might explode before too long!

    So, I created an INF file to use for certreq.exe. It has:

    [RequestAttributes]
    CertificateTemplate=WebServer
    san="dns=1.domain.co.uk&2.domain.co.uk"

    Yet the request it's creating is not including the SAN?

    you're missing the "dns=" from the second name after the ampersands
