"The disk in drive k is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?" HELP!
I am running in to this problem with my computer. I plug in any USB memory device, and it tells me that "The disk in drive k is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?" I am sure it is my computer because the usb memory cards seem to work fine on other computers. Ive done a virus scan, and spybot scan with no luck. Searched all over the internet, and all the advice i found was data recovery programs. If that is your sugggestion please dont respond.
Can someone please help this helpless1.
Cheers,

Sorry for not explaining more in detail. I have Windows XP. This issue happened over night with no new software or configurations done to the computer. The USB sticks are working fine on all other computers regardless of the OS. I tried formatting when it asked, it still doesnt work. And when I click no. I still cant view the disk. I can see the drive, but cant access it. and when i look at the usage it says usage 0, and capacity 0. But when I plug it in to another computer, its says the actual capacity and usage.
Cheers

If you have formatted it, then I'm afraid your data is lost now anyway...

@LosOjos, Thanks for the enlighting reply.... But, This happenes with all USB drives. I had one that I rarely use. I loaded some BS info on there from a different computer and tried it, and formatted it. which didnt work. So, I have access to all my data, but NOT ON MY COMPUTER.

And with that I'll no longer help. A word of advice - if you want people's help, try being polite, especially if you're new to the community.
