    wireless for students

Hi I have been asked to look into provide wireless for students. I have been looking at a vlan with active directory login with smoothwall so all internet traffice can be monitored. Has anybody done this and how?

    Thanks

We have a setup at my school for students, guests and domain machines to use the wireless on seperate SSIDs. We do not set a key for the wireless login but use EAP and request the domain login of the user to connect. Upon the atempt at connection, NPS from a server 2008 client will run it remediation checks on antivirus and windows updates before allowing access.

Routing for the wireless link travels through to our proxy which has a default rule applied so that students do not need to enter any proxy details

we have 3com wireless kit that allows multiple ssids connected to different vlans. The student wireless is simply an open ssid vlan'ed with a linux proxy to our filtered internet connection. the proxy does dhcp and dns. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to make it a transparent proxy in time so students need to know the proxy address and the username/password for the 3com http authentication page.
