    Intel Server Manager 8.40

    Hello all,

Can someone please find me the Intel Server Manager 8.40 software for an Intel SE7320EP2 server board?

I can find the manual and all other related bits online, but I cannot find a download link to the Intel Server Manager 8.40 software itself.

I know this is the correct version as I have an identical server running the software already (unfortunately no install files) and it mentions it here in the specs.

They'll be points heading your way if you can find it. Many thanks!

Here is a possible download locations, they may be in Russian but with a thorough scan may be alright and include english:

    ftp://ftp.atcomp.cz/SERVERY_MERCURY/...t/8_40/unpack/
    ftp://ftp.atcomp.cz/SERVERY_MERCURY/...er_Management/

    Here's their (Intel's) lame explaination:

It may also be on the Server Deployment CD:
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...d+SE7320EP2eng
Server Deployment CD image(C99959-003-Fixed.iso) C99959-003 For Intel? Server Board SE7525RP2 - Server Products -
Download Intel Server Board SE7320EP2 -- Server Deployment CD image(C99959-003-Fixed.iso) - Drivers

again, put as much trust in the sources as you would usually, if its on the first intel download though it would actually be reasonably safe.

Thanks Synack, I've downloaded the ISO and it is in English.

Now here's the strange bit. The server has an LSI Utility - MegaIDE which is currently yellow, reporting Smart errors in the RAID 1 array. In the Intel Server Manager 8.40 software, it reports the same RAID 1 array as optimal. The server does reboot OK remotely, but I've not had the chance as yet to sit in front of it and see if any errors are reported when booting up.

The other identical server I have also has the same LSI Utility - MegaIDE installed, but is currently green and appears all OK. It also reports as optimal in the Intel Server Manager 8.40 software.

Any idea what else I can try?

I checked the BIOS versions (from the Intel Server Manager 8.40 software) and there are slight differences:

    SE7320EP20.86B.P.04.00.0018.092120051324 (MegaIDE reporting yellow)

    SE7320EP20.86B.P.05.00.0020.121620050818 (MegaIDE reporting green)

Looking at the change logs, it mainly appears to be processor additions rather than fixing any bugs or problems with the BIOS itself.

RAID controllers can be weird about SMART errors as they can remember issues and not reset. Had an issue where the Seagate .11 ES drives where the firmware had messy smart implementations, a firmware upgrade on the drives fixed it but the RAID firmware never forgot and so blinked the error lights depite the error being fixed.

In this case it could be something simmilar, the intel device manager may be reading directly from the drives rather than the RAID firmware or visa versa causing the discrepency. You could try updating the firmware on the drives and the RAID controler if avalible which may give you a more difinative answer. You could also yank the drives and put them into a machine that can access them directly and use that to read out the SMART information.

It could also be that one of the drives has errored in the past and has been replaced but the controler is being a bit thick and has not reset itself. The firmware update may force it to recheck this but its only a chance.
