Nothing in Event Viewer since last summer

We have a fairly elderly Windows XP SP3 PC that has been having a few problems since the start of term. Crashing roughly once a day with the occasional BSOD despite no new hardware or software being added to it.

Trying to get to the bottom of what's causing it, beyond old age, is proving difficult as there's nothing at all in any part of the event viewer since last June. Any ideas as to why there'd be nothing there?

The logs are not at 0K because they are populated up until 20/6/2011 (nothing to particularly bother me there) with nothing since that date.

Interestingly, when I look from one of the servers, I can see a handful of events in 2036. I think this must have happened when the mains was turned off to the machine over Easter. The mobo battery is flat and I had to reset the clock before the wretched thing would do anything. I don't remember having to reset the clock since then, but am wondering if this is linked. I'd still expect to see stuff from the recent troubles.

If I recall (this doesnt happen much!) but I think a dodgy/ flat battery can cause alot of issues so just get some batteries froma shop and replace them
