mapping drives with a VPN
recently set up a vpn server here and we are now testing it with a few members of staff. I have tried it from home and it works perfectly, I can remote desktop to my machine and I can map drives to my home drive as well as others.
One member of staff has been able to connect to the the VPN, and RDP to his machine. However, he is unable to map the drives. It shows a message to say that the network location cannot be found.
My first thought was that he was doing it wrong, so I gave him a batch file to run to map the drives and he is still getting the same issue. Has anyone else had this same problem??

try mapping them via ip - sounds like it is not getting dns addresses correctly

But he rdp'd to his desktop machine with a dns name.
If there was no dns, he wouldnt be able to do that would he?

SMB over a VPN is a real pig unless your bandwidth is high enough to support it.
If they are using RDP anyway what's wrong is using the disk redirector in the RDP client?
