    Hotfix for KB article 888254

You cannot set the Folder Redirection policy setting on a Windows XP SP2-based computer that also uses Group Policy settings to customize Internet Explorer
    Hotfix here

We have this week changed one of our GPO to use redirection on application data and desktop. We have always redirected the folder My Documents and have never had a bit of trouble. But since this week we have done the other two folders mentioned above. Now all previous users in this OU that the GPO is on do not have any trouble but if i now create a new user they do not get the IE settings as described in the KB article. If i take the user out of the OU and put it in another to log on the first time and create his profile all is ok if then move the user to the OU with the GPO in question it works fine but to create the user in the OU it has the IE problem.

First i thought it was a security permission problem but i checked them all time and tiem again and all were correct and the saem as other older users permissions.

Has anyone come across this or had this before?

Ah yes, this old chestnut. Search edugeek for 'are you redirecting the application data folder'.

I did it a while ago on one of the schools systems and it worked pretty well.. Not done it here yet but then I haven't had the same problem yet either..

Will see next week as tomorrow is family day.

Did you do it manually or deploy or script it to all the machines via GPO?

When I did it before it was manually handled but if I have to do it again I'll be using RunOnce.cmd to handle it, assuming of course it can be handled silently.. otherwise it's a case of using Ryan VM or something similar.

Are you angling for an MSI by any chance?
