Just a quick question about NTBAckup and timings. If i doa full back up of say, 80gb across the network to a NAS box and it takes say, 8 hours. If i then do differentiall back up how long would that take roughly?

Depends how 'different' it is from the last full backup. :P
lol
If you are backing upto NAS then you may benfit from using something like Robocopy to fairly static data between 2 places. I use it on my application shares.
robocopy is what I use... let me go have a look at my differential log to see how long it took
*wanders off.....and comes back*
right... it really does depend on the equipment u have & how much data changes each day etc., but mine shows me that it took just over 2 hrs to copy 17.8G of data, which I guess isnt amazing but it is trawling through everything it finds - including stuff that access is denied on I guess.
Seems like people here do a lot of work lol - 17.8G changed in one day! not bad for a small school like this one lol

You haven't said how big your school is but imagine that overall there should a few gigabytes of modified and newly created files each day (including roaming profiles if you use them). You can get an idea of this by using thecommand to check for files with the archive attribute set.Code:DIR /S /AA
I probably guess your looking at a couple of hours. Although not each file is backed up NTBackup still has to be find all those modified. This will take a bit of time. Plus any time need for automated backup verification.
