Green screen and word ATTENTION! what's going on...???
Just had a phone calls to our office asking why all the PC screens in some rooms went green with the word ATTENTION on it....then disappeared....
Checked SOPHOS console and no incidents to speak of.
Checked Event logs of one PC it happened to and nothing to report....
We do have AB Tutor installed in one room but the client agent is only installed in that one room....
Lost what to think....

The power surged (or dropped) pc's went off and the monitors went to there default No signal but with big Attention which is what staff read?
monitors would have come back on pc's wouldn't if not set to in bios
EDIT: do you have a power kill switch in the room? somebody press it for a laugh?

wasnt the screen saver that changed briefly was it I Saw a virus that did that a while back - sophos doesnt always detect things maybe run a malwarebytes scan on said machine ??

On further investigation we do have the AB Tutor client that was put on a ghost build deployed out to other suites....this is looking like the most likely culprit I think - have mailed the only teacher who has the TEACHER version to see if he was messing with anything....
None of the PC's went off....
Screensaver option is a possibility if the AB Tutor is a dead end...

This sounds like AB tutor to me. When you lock the screens it does as you described. Sounds like the teacher was having a bit of fun^^
Also even if the teacher says they didnt lock the screens you might be best testing it yourself and seeing if it's the same message. In the past we've had problems with pcs being locked by AB tutor and the teachers accidently locking them and didnt realise ( No Idea how you can accidently do this )

There is an screen on AB that allows personalised messages to be broadcast.
Can't you run the teacher version and check if it's enabled?

I once locked the whole school with a custom message by accident (700 pc's), luckily I hit unlock miliseconds after the lock so the message only flashed up for a second... We were based in a classroom then, so had to monitor kids during break and dinner, I think the message was something like "STOP LOOKING AT PORN"... whoops!

Teachers sharing a lesson....
Teacher 1 : "can you lock all their screens please"
Teacher 2 : "how do you do that...?"
Teacher 1 : "on you just select all the pc's and click lock".....
Teacher 1 failed to tell teacher 2 to select the room first
