Have a hp laptop G7000 - the hard drive is dead , have another hard drive ( Serial ATA ) but it did not come with any OS Installation cd / dvd or any of that, it has the serial key on the windows sticker on the laptop itself so I just need a windows vista basic edition ISO
Is anyone able to help me out ?
P.S Laptop is out of the warranty so can't go down that route
Thanks for the suggestion but with the laptop being at the very least 3 years + old, there is no proof of purchase that I am aware of and I just wanted the iso of vista basic , as stated above I have the serial key. If that does not work then I should be able to use nlite for vista or if not xp

Surely your serial key could be used as proof of purchase,
"Proof of purchase can be:
PID Number/CD Key number".
Also, I've just read some where that it's not illegal to download Windows if you have a valid serial key; it's illegal to crack Windows or bypass the activation technologies. However, I'm unsure of that.

Any vista iso should do the trick - all vista discs have every version on them, the serial determines what you can install.
I'll see if I can find a disc at work tomorrow
