Ok, I have a laptop that keeps deciding that it wants to rule the Network and become a Browser Master and as such it messes up the network when browsing it, which we have to often, not because we don't know the computers names, its to look for unauthorised machines that may have been plugged in etc. I had this PC in the office for a week and not a problem at all with browsing worked fine for all week not a blip, but then as soon as it saw the network within a few hours bam off we go again with browsing issues. What could be on this laptop that is causing it. Any thoughts? Its virus and spyware free.

I have known it to happen and you can force it not to take part in any browser elections or anything like that with a registry change or just reinstall

I've got an XP home machine used in the library and that's forcing elections more than the USA after Bush's win..
As it's a Home machine it's not on the domain but I did set the workgroup to the same as the domain prefix eg: school...
Useful?

I cannot re-install windows as its a students own laptop, and due to other factors, not using it on the network is not an option.
@Chris do you have any details on this regedit?
@Contink, I don't think its got the DNS suffix set, so that may be worth trying next term (adds it to the To Do list...)
