    Unhappy Adobe CS3 Applications Won't Launch

    Hi,

    We're having an issue on some new HP laptops we just acquired. We've tested this under a number of environments (pre-CC3 deployment, post deployment, repair installation) but are getting the same issue. When you try to launch any CC3 application the hard drive will seek as it would normally, but then stops and nothing appears on screen. The process is running but no matter what we do the application just doesn't seem to want to launch. It doesn't flash up and then disappear as I've read elsewhere either.

    Any advice on getting closer to resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated; one of the main purposes of these laptops was for students to run CS3 on.

    I suspect your problem is related to Software Restriction Policies. Does CS3 run OK when logged on as an administrator on your RM CC3 network?

    Yes it normally runs fine using any type of account throughout the network, it's just on these new laptops where it's having problems. It's strange, they're not setup any differently than other laptops/workstations on the network, just the specification is considerably better.

    The only applications in the CS3 suite which actually work on these laptops are:

    ExtendScript Toolkit 2
    Extension Manager
    Flash CS3 Video Encoder

    UPDATE:
    It seems to be working now! I ran one of the working applications and chose to update CS3 product, following a restart CS3 started up normally.

    Scratch that update, yes it'll launch now but it will crash when you try and close it and Fireworks won't even fully load; it just freezes before it's had a chance to load the orange main menu
