Hi
I was wondering what Exchange spam software people use...
Thanks

I used to use shell scripts to spam exchange boxes but I'm better now.
GFI mailessentials and MailSecurity for me.
Like the fact users can use Public Folders to help control Spam and it seems to work well, had it for 18 months now.
Might get a quote for Smoothwalls Smoothzap when I renew as my subscription is about £700 for 100 mailboxes.
Linux box running Postfix and SpamAssassin sat inbetween Exchange and the rest of the Internet. No cost (other than hardware and labour) and no mailbox limit.

We have a spam filter at RBC level that stops a lot of spam - a couple of thousand per week - which is satisfactory at the moment.
I have also played with a Linux distro called Proxmox (see www.proxmox.com ) which is basically what Geoff suggested but with a GUI and it saves you the hassle of setting it up. There is also a paid-for extension that will filter images and produce reports that you can view to see what nastyness the kids have been up to.

Sophos Puremessage for me, its actually one Sophos product I don't mind, yes I know Shock Horror! I am recomending a Sophos product! (must go lie down now...)
The built in IMF that shipped with Exchange 2k3 SP2 is really quite effective when tuned correctly and it costs nothing.
Try this first before you part with a load of taxpayers money, you might find it is good enough with the other layers provided at your LEA/ISP etc.
Daniel Petri has some really good how to's:

Must admit I forgot that I use the IMF as well, only works if you have the mail received direct to your server, doesnt work on POP3 connectors if anyone braves use them

IMF stopped some but not a lot of our spam.... the RBC filter was then implemented and nothing is caught by IMF now.
