Someone just pointed out that the Music PCs opened .cpr files in Cubase SE3 on double-clicking, though they've been updated to Cubase 5.
I tried changing the file association through Tools...Folder Options...Filetypes, and now Cubase 5 starts at least, though it then fails to open the file. (Works fine through File...Open.)
Is there some other aspect to file association that I've missed?

To do file associations I usually go for the command line
assoc and ftype
basically something like:
assoc .cpr=Cubase5File
ftype Cubase5File=c:\path\to\cubase.exe %1
You can do more, but this usually works.
There's probably already something associating the .cpr with a file type, so you might be able to just get away with moving the ftype from the old one to the new one.
