One computer losing connection to our LEA exchange server

One machine in the school is continually disconnecting from the Exchange server provided by our LEA. Everyone else is fine.

What seems to happen is randomly, the server is uncontactable and then a few seconds later all is fine.

I'm kind of at a loss as to the cause here, as everything else is working fine on that machine.

    Any ideas?

We're using Outlook 2003 on Windows XP, connecting to Exchange 2007, and the machine in question is a 9 month old quad core machine with 4GB RAM etc...

Does it matter where the pc is on the network? Is it possible to try an alternative network card?

I have no idea but thought I would give some test ideas.

Can't think it could be, every thing else works instantly - internet, network shares, etc... It is just email that's a pain.

    Try a different network Port,
    Try a new patch Cable,
    Try a new NIC,

If it's still not working then reimage the machine.

Have you left a ping -t running to an internal and external ip's?
I have had cards that seem fine but randomly would drop the odd packet or two and ping -t revealed it.
