Ive tried searching for an answer for this on here, but apologies, Im going to have to ask another stupid question
Ive got an OU of computers I want to have a certain set of user settings, whoever logs on, which is what loopback is perfect for yes?
So Ive created the policy, set the user settings, set the loopback setting to replace, and applied it to a test OU
Now, whilst some of the policy applies (mostly seems to be redirected folders) most of it doesnt (explorer, start menu settings) and is set the same as the usual student policy
Ive tried enforcing the policy and blocking inheritance but no difference.
When I run gpresult on the client, it all looks as it should, no mention of the normal student policy, just the loopback one, which is what I'd expect
So where is it getting these settings from? Its almost like its in merge mode but its definately in replace![]()
You using it in Replace mode ? If so the policies are all machine based & any GPO associated with the user are ignored..... Could this be your problem ?
Yes its meant to ignore the user policies assigned to the user (which it doesnt seem to be doing) and apply the user policies in the GPO linked to that computers OU (which it also doesnt seem to be doing fully)
Thats what Im doing
Tried it in Merge Mode so it has the mixture of Object based policies & machine owned ?
Just tried it in merge mode and it does exactly the same (which is right)
It just seems replace mode doesnt work for me whatsoever
