the main criticism of the 2600n focuses on high toner cost - you can refill for 60% saving on new , we find the quality fine if you follow the instructions.
also, the last 2600n we bought about 2 mths ago had full cartridges (same part no anyway) - has this changed since?

Regardless of which printer you choose, I'd recommend you implement some sort of printer monitoring (or even printer quotas) to catch abuse. Colour printing gets expensive, fast.

Is a 2600N some special sort of colour laser that only needs toners and not all the other expensive bits that go wrong ?

    regards

    Simon

Correct. You only need to change the toner cartridges.

@Simon - the toner carts have the drums included & in my experience nothing much else goes wrong , although we had one that would not print magenta -I think the laser part for that colour had packed up- we just bought another at £170 .
even if you refill ,you need to buy new carts every 4-5 refills , so buy another printer ''

I swear by then 2600n's we have around 8 of them, used in class rooms and offices. They are a good quality color laser, at a decent price. If anything major goes wrong, as others have said, buy a new one. Also having so many of the same type means keeping stock levels and negotiating prices is easier.

Re: Colour Printing.. what is better ?

We have around 20 OKI colour lasers and have generally been very happy with them. We get fast prints with good quality prints, ok not photo quality but we don't need that.

A year ago I got a Minolta printer from LNL on a three year agreement for free YES FREE, the only condition is that we buy minimum of three sets of toners duing that period and if we can get toners cheaper than their price they will price match. We also get service included for the three years, at the end of that time they have the printer back and we get a new one. I believe that this deal is originated by Minolta, only goes to show the profit on toners, still I am happy with the performance and quality.

I am at home so I don't have LNL's details to hand, needless to say I have no connection with them. The printer they are offering at the moment is the 5440 DL. :?

I prefer the BusinessJets over the HP Colour Lasers, if i'm laser shopping, tis a Samsung laser.
