Works fine on 2k3. DFS on W2k is a place of hellish nightmares though.
Yep- we have DFS running on 2003 Server and it seems OK. The problem for us comes from our having a 2000 server in the domain too- and that *does* cause problems. Normally this is seen in our having to force replication of recently changed objects...

Luckily got rid of last w2k server in the summer so am all w2k3 now. What an improvement.
Think I'll look at deploying DFS soon then...
We bought a sofa from DFS a few years ago too!!(Before anyone else says it!)
LOL!
There's an analogy coming on..but hopefully you won't have to wait as long for your DFS to work as you sometimes do to get DFS to deliver a sofa :-)
Good luck!

wasn't DFS the disk filing system on the BBC 'b's with the floppy drives.......ah; those were the days!
yes it was. However I had superDFS drives (800k!) on my BBC B+.![]()
I wanted to use a BBC whilst studying 6502 assembly language, but couldn't get the courage up enough to buy one from eBay...*sigh*...they were great machines though.

Still got mine. Its rather crazy though. 1mb of ram and a 30mb HDD.![]()

With Vista and Vista Server on the way it will be even easier. Virtual folders, which is just DFS of a sort is going to be a mainstay of the file sysem.
Ive been waiting 8 weeks for my new sofa from DFS and it isnt here yetOriginally Posted by kingswood

I'm playing with DFS at the moment. It says to use the Active Directory integrated Namespace for under 5000 folders only. That's not enough for most schools I would think. Are you people finding that it uses a lot of resources?
got it running between 3 seperate school sites over VPNs
mostly ok tho odd glitches, say when a vpn goes down and then reconnects
DFS re-written in 2003R2, will be investigating![]()
Cheers Martin. How many folders are you synchronizing approxiamately?
