SCCM and SCE Thoughts - Mainly software deployment
I'm currently playing with SCCM 2007 and SCE 2010. Personally I was quite happy without them using the other tools we have, but several bits of software (Adobe CS5, Office 2010, Windows 7) mean we're being pushed towards them as the only fully managed and supported option.
I was looking for general feedback from users, particularly with regards to software deployment. SCCM seemed to be fairly awkward to install and has odd remote SQL requirements. SCE seems cleaner but obviously does a lot less. Is anyone using SCE heavily for software deployment and if so have you had any issues? I just tried making one MSI deployment with it and it gave me an error so not a good start.
SCCM is a bargain on School Agreements - should I just go for it and try to learn quickly?
Thanks in advance for any feedback,
