Screen Saver
We have a computer with cctv displayed, it's connected to the domain and I have disabled the screen saver as an administrator but when the user logs on the screen saver comes up and we need it to be off. Any ideas?

24th June 2010, 01:19 PM #3 I assume the screensaver isn't controlled by a domain GPO? If not, have you tried giving the user temporary admin rights to the PC, logging on as them to disable the screensaver and then removing admin rights?

They don't have permisson to access the display control panel, yes I could give the user admin rights to disable the screen server. Why if I have done this as an administrator why doesn't it carry over for other users?

Screen saver settings are done per user IIRC. You may be able to set it via a GPO though.

heres a quick way that i find never fails.
bit messy but does the job -
create a batch file.
regedit.exe /s C:\screensaver.reg
put the bat file in the startup folder for that user
create this reg edit
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
"ScreenSaveActive"="0"
then save the reg file in the route of C:\
the bat will call up the regedit and will apply it silently

I'll give it a go. Cheers!
