Print Quota Software
Hi
One of my schools is considering print quota software. As I only work in primary schools it's not an area I am familiar with. I realise their's a lot to look at through a Google search but in the first instance I wondered what the members here were using and recommeded. Server 2003/XP Pro. Many thanks.

We user PCounter from Altman and it is brilliant allowing a quota to be set per pupil/printer/machine - allows consumable logging etc.

Re: Print Quota Software
Likewise, PaperCut is reasonably good.
If you happen to be in Hampshire, you get something like a 40% discount on papercut if you order it through EdICT too. It's entirely possible other LEAs have a similar deal too I suppose, but you'd have to check.

Re: Print Quota Software
Many thanks for the replies, I'll take a look at the options suggested and advise the school accordingly. Certainly like the look of PaperCut Quota. Cheers.

we also use pcounter, very useful piece of software for quota management and also setting up ruling such as delete duplicate jobs, delete job if more than x number of pages!
I love it when pupils turn up saying they have not been assigned the weekly quote. All i do i run the report feature to show they were! THE LOOK ON THEIR FACES!!!!!

We use PaperCut NG, and have found it to be a perfect printer accounting solution. We run it over our Macs and PCs and have had no trouble with it at all.

Digging up a slightly old topic here but I guess its better than posting again!
What version of Pcounter do people use?
We're trying to use v2.12 and it is dreadful
Very non intuitive interface, pop up does not always work, leaving print jobs paused, and sometimes doesnt bother deducting any credits from peoples balances.
The older version used to work OK years ago, but we tried this version once in 2005 and abandoned it, and now Ive given it another go and still run into problems.
Papercut looks very good and sensibly priced though, so will give that a try

We're on 2.14a at the moment although I think there is an upgrade available now. Seems to work OK for us.
