Bginfo Alternative ?
Is there an alternative to Bginfo?.
Bginfo is great but I have having problems with the different wallpapers styles I use for year groups. These are put in place by a GPO on win7 and XP. I may get around the problem with a bit more work, but I was just wondering what else is out there. All I want to do is display the user logon name and name of the PC.
Many thanks
.

11th April 2010, 10:15 AM #2 Have a look at Desktop Info:
Link: Glenn's Eclectic Freeware
Download link: Desktop Info Download

This may or may not be what you are looking for but it is an alternative [of sorts] to BGInfo.
HTH.

We have "My Computer" and "My Documents" on the desktop and our logon script renames "My Computer" to the actual workstation name and "My Documents" to the username.
e.g. "IT1-PC00", "SmithJ's Documents"

18th November 2011, 04:08 AM #4 Hi,
I cant see the point in opening another thread for the same thing. I was wondering if anyone is using any other alternatives please? It would be nice to find something that will display the thinclient name, but thats not essential.
Thanks

20th November 2011, 01:50 PM #5 Officially Microsoft don't support BGInfo on Windows 7, which is why I am guessing this question has been asked.
Some people have managed it, but it requires a lot of coding. Personally (even if it works), it just means more information to process at logon and potentially more to go wrong, which is why I decided against it.
