1. Access to student folders
All members of the
ICT department have read/write access (selected members of staff MAY have read access IF they can demonstrate a real need)
2. Ability to change passwords
General staff do not have this right at the moment, all students are able to change their own passwords and all technical staff can change passwords for entire edirectory tree.
3. Ability to filter/unfilter sites
Only technical staff can do this as the ACL rules required are generally way above the level of most staff here (plus mistakes have been made in the past that blocked the entire web)
4. Ability to suspend internet access
Suspension of Internet service can only be performed by technical staff, we do have room control software in the
ICT labs but the internet blocking features of these only work with internet explorer (we use firefox which just blasts past)
5. Ability to right click
Can't see why you would need to remove this if your secuity policies and restrictions are set sufficiently
6. Ability to have to create new student accounts
Only technical staff can create/delete and modify accounts
7. Access a student's computer to see what they are on
Using room control software, staff can see (and lock if needed) student pc's in the
ICT labs tho few take advantage of the factility. Technical staff are able to remote control any pc in the entire school via zenworks.
8. Ability to check CCTV footage on the computer
