Our head's PDA(Windows Mobile 6.5) HTC Diamond HD2 was sent back to be fixed. I've spent ages trying to get it to work with ActiveSync but have failed every time even though it used to work.
I had a look at the Windows XP SP3 Firewall exception settings:
Everything is ticked for ActiveSync except for "ActiveSync service" which is greyed out and cannot be ticked. It says No under the Group Policy column. I've tried to change as the Administrator too.
The phone will only sync when the "Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)" service is stopped in Control Panel.Administrator Tools.Services.
Any ideas?

Sounds like it is set in the AD group policy, you can look to change this to allow configuration or enable Activesync from the server or just set the device to sync over Serial over USB instead You cannot synchronize a Windows Mobile-based device by using ActiveSync 4.x
Also you can disable advanced network functionallity.... This solves problems with active sync.
Start - Settings - Connections - USB to PC - untick Enable Advanced Network Functionallity.

Yup that's the solution, had exactly the same problem with my Touch Pro when I first got it, luckily Google came to the rescue before the phone went through an open window![]()
Thanks Michael, I disabled advanced network functionallity on my windows mobile pda and it sorted out my syncing issues!![]()
