    Talking Change All User Power Settings Help

    Good morning all, forgive me if I am being a bit dim.

    Is it possible to universally change all power settings (for example make the computer stay on all the time) for all users on a Windows XP Profesional.

    Cheers,
    Itguy22

    Depends what server you have. You can do it (I think) in 2008 using policies and preferences but I am not sure in earlier versions

    I use a couple of reg entries placed at startup and login via GPO that seem to do the trick .. the only thing is hoping that the computers have a standard set up in the Power Config so that the number in the reg entries matches up to the Always On setting:

    Startup:
    Code:
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\PowerCfg]
    "CurrentPowerPolicy"="3"
    Login:
    Code:
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg]
    "CurrentPowerPolicy"="3"
    That may (or may not) be of some use ..

    I didn't ever get round to trying this, however it is supposed to work.

    I use the EZ Energy star power software which for XP machines works great.

    But even if your on a 2000/2003 domain as long as you have a vista workstation you can set power preferences using the client side extensions for your vista and xp users.
