I've been looking around for possible new AVs. Avast corporate looks nice, good website etc. I'm just downloading a trial, but really for AV if it installs well, deploys well and isn't a memory hog then that's as far as the trial can take you. I'll need some "real life" experiences too. Anyone using/used it?
Cheers

I have been using it a while, runs well, seems to pick up stuff that my old Norton never detected, and has the added bonus that it works in my Vista

Re: Experiences of Avast Antivirus
I use Avast at home, and it works a treat... it doesnt hog memory at all... i use to use Norton AV before at home, but this is a lot better and very easy on the memory!
Im not sure about deploying it as at School we use Sophos AV

I have it on a box at home and have no grumbles really. It does bleat a lot if you have remote admin or network monitoring / testing tools on your machine (pstools, nmap etc), but it can be set to ignore these.

Yep using it at home too, really a very nice program and the updates are very regular, no complaints at all!

Great stuff. Just installed it on the test server and it went great. Now to try the deployment side.

Can't say for the corp version but the free home one didnt last long with me... like someone mentioned above, if you do any sort of development work etc, it keeps bugging you about stuff [not the only product that does].
In the end I stuck to what I knew... ClamWin :thumbsup
and AVG free is a good one for home too - doesnt flag everything continually either hehe
I have Symantec AV [corp] on the server's, and run Sophos from the LEA on the desktops. No problems with this combo here

I use it at home on Windows 64-bit and its great. I used to have a problem where the AV running would cause windows to freeze while shutting down but they seem to have fixed that.

Aside from running symantec on the servers I agree with tarquel on the AVG Free and clamwin.
Avast also has a boot scan which I really liked so it scans for any viruses before it loads windows, I think you have to schedule it to do that so it doesnt do that all the time afaik thank god.

Clamwin is pretty good as it doesn't interfere with anything else you might have installed. Other AV software tends to 'fight' if you have more than one installed.

How is Clamwin in terms of Server Management and Deployment?

You can unpack the .exe setup and get an MSI file.
Configuration is just a few registry keys.
It uses windows scheduler for doing automated scans.
It'll report to a file or it can send emails.
So basically, there's nothing out of the box but you can cobble something together quite easily.
