Wireless Zero Configuration, set to automatic, not starting?
Hi All,
I've got a laptop that has an Belkin Wireless PCMCIA Card. I've installed it as per the instructions, and have disabled the Belkin managment in the specified way, however, Wireless Zero Configuration does not start on boot, even though it is set to in services.
Any ideas?
TIA

Is the wireless card on and not disabled via either the button bios or windows? Change the service properties to continually restart if failed also check the event logs it may tell you whats happening to it/failing to start? See if you can find an event ID for it and I'll see why its happening?

Also before you disabled the belkin management software make sure you set it to 'use windows wireless configuration'.
Failing that, maybe the drivers are buggy. I've seen buggy drivers crash the Wireless Zero Config service in the past.

Some of the latest Belkiin kit comes with a nice utility that runs as a process - its called "diablexpzeroconfig" or something like it.
Disable the startup process and rename/delete the file.

Re: Wireless Zero Configuration, set to automatic, not start
well, i got WZC to start... the belkin software disabled itself, but not the program that ran at startup...
killed that and WZC started at boot... the card won't connect to our wireless network, so i figure it's duff anyway...
Thanks to all responders
