I've just discovered that Hibernate seems to work nowadays!

I've just discovered that Windows XP Hibernate facility seems to actually work!

After trying several incarnations of Mr Gates sleep products over the decades I came to the conclusion that they'd never work (on networked machines) and i stopped trying to use them years ago!

But it seems it does - at least on my NC10 -it seems to.

I even works from one school to another-i can hibernate at one place - restart at another and everything seems to carry on OK

I only ended up trying it again having got fed up that after the computer goes into standby - T'internet never works afterwards so I just tried changing it to hibernate instead and it works lovely.

I've set up bank of 10 old Fujitsu's at one school and they seem to work as well.

Of course it helps if you've only the one autologon/machine so its prob not much use to you big boys and girls

    regards

    Simon

I've got testing hibernate on my list of things to do, to try and combat rising electricity bills and heat in the IT Suites. How are you hibernating the PCs, what issues do you have when they come back and how long do they take to be usable again?

Always worked on the networked (workgroup/domained) machines that i've used over like the past 5 years, it just needs access to the C: drive and the space to do it's thing.
