have a problem with microsoft updates, I can download some of the "non" essential updates but all security updates are failing to download. Any ideas? have looked at error logs and gives the code 80072efd which seems to be miss configured proxy or firewall... everything seems good and only some of the updates arent downloading? anyone had this before?

Try specifying the following as exceptions:

http://*.update.microsoft.com
https://*.update.microsoft.com
http://download.windowsupdate.com

Longterm however I would recommend you setup WSUS which is relatively straight forward.

these are already in the exceptions and i have added relative sites to trusted list, makes no difference. Will look at WSUS.
