ok i am stuck and need some help. What it is i have just been trying to sort the server i have taken over out. (after getting things running) and in enabling the disk quota i have found that a few teacher have used upwards of 8gb. but i have searched and cannot find the files and the teaches have looked in there my docs folder and they are not taning that much space. (this disk is only used for My docs. is there any way from the server i can do a search for the files or folders for the owner. or where its getting the disk quota from.

Re: Disk Quota Search
I'm glad you asked this question as it has prompted me to find the answer for myself!
The solution I've found uses the command line:
fsutil file findbysid <username> <directory>
Only works when the volume has disk quotas enabled, but that is obviously the case for you. It seems to search sub-directories automatically.
Should have added:
Add to the end:
| more
to paginate the results or:
> path\filename.txt
to save the results to a text file

Just something to note with Quotas, if you have shared areas where staff place useful files, remember that anything they put there has them as the owner and thus counts towards that users quota until an administrator takes it over, we often get staff running out of room when they only have a few hundred meg of documents, but when we look that are owners of a few hundred meg of photos in the shared folders, so may be worth scripting an "administrator take ownership" over any shared folders you have say once a week.

i have got a drive set aside for their my docs and i was told that there my docs was not that big when i checked it out i found out they were trying to be cleaver and make the files hidden lol and as i dont have access to the my docs folder i have now created a text file printed it a gave it to them ??
they have now asked me if i can put some of it onto a dvd so they dont have to lose it. Why do people make so hard i am not stupid lol. just wish there was a easier way to do it i have created a bat file which askes to input the user name area and text file to save to but i dont know if there is a eiser way.
