have you installed the microsoft high definition driver here? Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver version 1.0a available for Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows 2000
you'll need to install it so xp can support the high definition sound card before installing the real drivers

Of course. The HD drivers I've ripped from the Tosh install would probably work fine after I do that!

I keep forget which way round it goes, every bloody time I get it wrong. Try and install the HD drivers before the UAA. This time I didn't have the UAA to hand and it completely slipped my mind!

If you're installing XP SP3 (and really you should be now) you don't require the Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio driver.

The only thing I have in my call log about it is the "SM Bus Controller" we downloaded from the Toshiba Win 7 drivers website that we needed first to get some things to work.

    Old habits die hard.

The CD we're using is still SP2. I tend to get the drivers working, copy the i386 folder then run windows updates which gets us to SP3.
