    Office 2003-2007 shortcuts

    Hi

Here is a good one. I have Office 2003 and 2007 on the same network. We have Office 2003 on some machines and 2007 in the ICT suite - before anyone asks, yes the kids find it easier and it has raised grades!

I'd like to put shortcuts on the student desktops that would open Office 2003 if installed or go to Office 2007. I am no scripting expert, but could easily spot what needs changing. Has anyone done or is able to do this?

    cheers

    James

I suppose in theory an alternative would be to install Office in exactly the same directory as I believe the exe's are named the same.

    Hi

I know - but I am trying to clear up a situation I've been landed in without having to do a reinstall!

I've encounted this problem, and would like to know a solution.

I've just put both shortcuts in the start menu for the time being. 07 is only installed on a few laptops in our library so its not a massive problem.

not pretty (and requires the office paths editing probably not got either to hand)

    Code:
    if exist "C:\program files\ms office\11\winword.exe" goto _word2003
    if exist "C:\program files\ms office\12\winword.exe" goto _word2007

    :_word2003
    START "word 2003" /D "C:\program files\ms office\11\" /B winword.exe
    goto _end

    :_word2007
    START "word 2007" /D "C:\program files\ms office\12\" /B winword.exe
    goto _end

    :_end
