I would have a look at Spiceworks. It collects a lot of system information automatically and could do what you are looking for?
However you might like to wait and see what other posts say.
I'm guessing there must be a thread or something about this - but I don't know what search terms to use for what I want to know, sorry.
Microsoft does a set of information sheets/screens about the computer hardware, software and status. I'd like to collect all that info for all of my machines. Is that possible without having to physically logon (or remote in) to each and pull the reports off manually?

I have used Spiceworks before and you are right it does collect a lot of info. However, it caused some issues on my network, together with slowing down my own workstation, so I uninstalled it. I was rather hoping that there would be another solution.
try the free version of this
XIA Configuration Server - CENTREL Solutions
BoX
Thanks I'll take a look.
Takes a bit of configuring and requires a linux box ( afaik ) but nagios should do the trick ( I think )
Nagios - The Industry Standard in IT Infrastructure Monitoring
I have, several times, looked at Nagios. Way too complicated for a simple person like me, plus I don't have a Linux box (nor a spare that I could use as one) But thanks anyway.
paid for would be something like everest corporate or ultimate edition
Lavalys - Comprehensive IT Security and Management
IIRC there are windows versions of Nagios.
I need to make one post before I can post url's... so here it is :-)
Did you checkout the Spiceworks community? They may have been able to help you get Spiceworks working correctly?
There are lots of things that you can do to speed up Spiceworks.
But yes if Spiceworks doens't work for you I love and use Nagios as well.
After installing Nagios reading ( How to install Nagios on Ubuntu server ) for help (well ok i copied it exactely, I installed NagiosQL ( NagiosQL - www.nagiosql.org ) which helped allow me to configure Nagios though the web without hassle of trying to remember where the files are what they were called.
If you get stuck using nagios, places like Experts Exchange or even the Spiceworks community are there to help you.
p.s. if you use NagiosQL dont tick the N check box on alerts or the contact... it means non so no emails will get sent... i found out the hard way...
Only my 2p
Thanks guys
I don't actually want to monitor my network - just gather some static info.
