We have all our PC set that when a staff member is logged on it automatically puts a screen saver on after 10 minutes and locks the computer.
However when watching a DVD through power dvd after ten minutes the screen goes black, the sound continues. you move the mouse and the computer is locked!
I would like to keep the lockout peroid on for secruity but somehow stop it for DVD playback.
Anyone have this or got any ideas!

18th September 2009, 02:02 PM #2 I dunno if this helps, but you might need to create a script that runs when the screensave process runs and when power dvd process is running.... Screensaver process: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scr...5/hey0810.mspx.
You need to stop the logon.scr process from running while the powerdvd process is running but i am useless at writing scripts, im sure someone on here will help you. It would be nice to see a copy of the script as it would be useful for me too.

18th September 2009, 06:24 PM #3 I have exactly the same problem, my solution to the staff is the rather useless "move the mouse more often".
[ I think the more relevant question should be "why are they showing such long video clips?" Cause really, what are the kids learning in a 30min clip that, that they couldn't be shown in a 2min clip and then a discussion. Although if it is Media Studies - buy them a £20 DVD player. ]

A small thought but isn't that the power management of the OS / BIOS causing the monitor to go off rather than a screen saver? or is it definately the screen saver?
I recall [obviously wrongly] that WinDVD and most DVD viewing programs have a disable screen saver option in them - is that ticked? (although i guess the "lockout" might prevent that from working as I think windows does something slightly different when that option is enabled)
Just spewing thoughts out of my brain again
Nath.
