(help).gif files not showing in ie7
Hi all
I have a problem with .gif files not working in internet explorer 7
under administrator all is fine no problems
when a user or teacher with a mandatory profile goes to the same website .gif files do not show
for example the outlet button at the top of the page on edugeek just displays a red cross where the button should be.
I think this must be a gpo issue but can not figure out which one could be causing this.
i have sp3 on the machines could this be the issue.
Anyone have any ideas
We have the ie7 adm installed on the server
ANY IDEAS
Dom
UPDATE :
When i look at the properties of the button it says type not available

18th September 2009, 09:28 AM #2 if i copy the link of the .gif file from the properies and put it into the address bar loads of random characters are displayed and not the image.
the properties show the following
Protocol: HyperText Transfer Protocol
Type :Not Available
Address (URL) http://www.edugeek.net/images/edugee...u/outlet_r.gif
Size : Not Available
Created date not available
Modified not available
not all gifs are affected though which i am finding hard to get my head round is it some kind of encoding problem?
This is quite urgent as i need to roll this image out asap.
thanks in advance for any ideas

I may be way off here, but wouldnt you need to alter the mand profile in order to accomodate the changes for IE7?
That would be my first port of call really.
We have no issues like with any of our roaming profile users, but we dont have mand profiles so I'd guesstimate that this could be a point to look at.

18th September 2009, 01:00 PM #7 if you do a view source on the web pages and just copy and paste a few examples of what the img tag source code is like here and also go back to ie 6 and use ie fix
IEFix Utility - Description
Then re install ie 7 and do a restore and try again is it still the same
Also ensure shockwave, flash etc are up to date

i think it is time to create some new profiles these are 4 years old now
must remember the all the little tweaks i have done to the profiles over the years.
