One of our teachers has a Toshiba Equium that she inherited from her previous school. It has XP Home. It won't shutdown or logoff and system restore doesn't run. She says this is since the last update. I've run CCleaner and I'm doing a virus scan at present. The HT has said that as she doesn't have a school laptop, I can put XP Pro on but has anyone come up against this and know a fix?

11th September 2009, 10:17 AM #3 Thanks, I figured I would have a problem as she doesn't have the disk or key. Any idea what caused it?

not sure about what caused it but does it have a recovery partition on there you can use to restore the defaults ?
Short of that use magic jelly bean key finder or something similiar ( or serial number / product key should be on a sticker on the laptop on the under side ) use any xp home cd to re install and use that serial key and it should be good to go
